4. Outside passageways should be enclosed by gates that can be locked.
5. Buildings should be well-lit on the outside.
6. Cash should not be left in buildings and office equipment serial numbers should be recorded.
7. Someone should be aware of the general location of equipment and what is located in each room of the building.
8. Arrange for a site security survey with your local police department.

C. ADDITIONAL SECURITY SUGGESTIONS

2. Ground floor windows should be covered with metal grates.
3. Burglar alarms should be installed.

D. FOREIGN OBJECTS

1. Custodians should check their buildings daily, especially on the outside.
2. In an emergency, call 911. Foreign objects (e.g., boxes, parcels, pieces of metal pipe, etc.) should be checked with extreme caution. F. SUSPICIOUS OCCURRENCES

1. Suspicious individuals and occurrences should be reported to the police and to the JCRC at the above number.
2. If any threatening letters, faxes, or e-mails are received, they should be handled as little as possible, and set aside for police to pick up as possible evidence. Similarly, threatening or hate-directed phone messages should be saved and turned over to police. JCRC should be notified.
3. In the event of any arson attempts, call 911. Notify the JCRC as well.

G. OTHER EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

1. Everyone using a building should be aware of the location of exits.
2. Fire extinguishers should be available and checked every year by an authorized company.
