Community Relations Council In a short legislative session, only measures with overwhelming bi-partisan support are likely to become law. The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) encourages members of the Indiana General Assembly to address the critical issues that will benefit or protect populations in need, including fully-funded full day kindergarten, implementation of home and community-based care for seniors wishing to age in their homes and those with disabilities, predatory lending prohibitions, and extending the family planning waiver to help prevent unplanned pregnancies. The session will be utterly unproductive if our legislators spend their time addressing divisive issues certain to fail, including mandating a moment of silence in public schools, restricting reproductive rights, and implementing anti-immigration reforms. It is disgraceful that our state lags behind on so many levels with respect to educating and protecting our children, helping people become economically self-sufficient, and providing quality and accessible health care for those in need. People elect their legislators and charge them with the responsibility to improve the lives of all Indiana citizens. JCRC hopes the members of the IGA will be mindful of their responsibility and not squander the opportunities presented in the current short session.
